She narrated her tragic story with tears in her eyes and a pale facial expression. She had experienced a real hell on earth and never saw any ray of hope in her future life at that time. The revolution was generally considered...

“A Stolen Child, Panchen Lama”

The 11th Panchen Lama.

                                                     “A Stolen Child, Panchen Lama”

"A single small boy's picture at the age of six is the only proof that he is alive in Chinese prison to the world after 25 long years of today."

By Som (My permanent address was stolen too)

Panchen Lama; a 6-years old of an innocent boy, the youngest political prisoner in the world was born on 25th April 1989 in Tibet. After a few years of finding the undiluted reincarnation process according to the Tibetan Buddhist cultural way of life, we found our 10th Panchen Lama’s reincarnation, the 11th Panchen Lama Gedhun Choekyi Nyima but Chinese has chosen its own candidate Gyaltsen Norbu illegally. He did not succeed in gaining the respect and recognition from the Tibetan people, which was totally against the will of Tibetan people and Buddhist all around the world.

On 14th May 1995, a 6-years old boy, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima was recognized as the 11th Panchen Lama by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Within three days of the announcement, on 17th May 1995 the Chinese authorities kidnapped the young child and his family. As he promptly disappeared, Gedhun Choekyi Nyima has never been seen and heard from since, even it remains unknown whether he is aware of his being chosen as the Panchen Lama.

His whereabouts and wellbeing remain unknown; he has not been seen in public since his kidnapping and nobody knows whether he is still alive on this planet or not. His disappearance is not only an injustice to the one person, but it is an injustice and criminal act to six million Tibetans and Buddhist all around the world for their basic fundamental rights. A single small boy picture at the age of six is the only proof that he is alive in Chinese prison to the world. Should we continue to believe that he is alive base on that twenty five years ago small picture? I’m not really sure that he might even not know whether he is a Tibetan and Panchen Lama. If China can choice fake Panchen Lama then obviously! They might also choose him as a fake Chinese parent who could feed him better Chinese ideology and way of life, which we can judge only when they will give some change to speak in public if he is alive.

China has been playing a childish game on Tibetan Government in exile and to the rest of the world by keeping their deep secrets behind the CCP screen. China first downplayed the threat by saying that Panchen Lama was at risk of being kidnapped by separatist and he was kept at a safe location in 1996, then they tried to cover that he was receiving a free national compulsory education and he was doing pretty good in his studies during these days in 2007. Eventually, they responded that he was now a college graduate with a stable job by recently. So what should be their next drama? Will they say that he is receiving his monthly salary or he is eating his breakfast??? Should Tibetan people and the rest of the world continue to be fooled and take their occasional fake words to the world’s human rights planform or should we start paragon investigation before it’s too late? “Better late than never”
In other words, Chinese Government says that the Panchen Lama is an ordinary Chinese citizen, not a reincarnation of Panchen Lama, then why this ordinary Chinese citizen is being hidden from the world and why they are not giving him basic human rights as ordinary Chinese people can enjoy.   China also added, he and his family does not wish to disturb their daily routine by outside world and they hope that relevant parties will fully respect their words. If it was really so, then why he himself and family shouldn’t come out and speak to the world, we will be definitely respected. Else, how can we respect this trash words, even world people is not enough in guarantee that whether he is alive or not. China must first let him speak to the world and convince the world that the Panchen Lama is alive, we can then discuss whether he really wants to disturb or not will be the second question. So let him free and let the world know where he is.

In fact, the Panchen Lama is one of the most important figures in Tibetan Buddhist culture with its spiritual authority next only to the Dalai Lama. However, the Dalai Lama and Panchen Lama are closely connected. The Panchen Lama bears part of the responsibility for finding the incarnation of the Dalai Lama and vice versa.  Each came in their lifetime is not only involved in to search for the other reincarnations, but also assumes the roles, responsibilities, first as the disciple and later as the teacher of the other. This has been the traditional Tibetan Buddhist hierarchy since the 5th Dalai Lama.

Therefore, Chinese community parties are always attempting to erase the unique culture and identity of Tibetan Buddhist which is the total violation of religious freedom at large.  China’s abduction of the Panchen Lama and forcible refusal of his religious activities in his monastery is not only a violation of religious freedom but also a gross violation of human rights in China that people should be aware of in general.
