“Two revolutions and Tibetan resilience”                                                                                                             -Som                               (Culture revolution and Tibetan peace revolution 2008) My grandmother's untold story of the Cultural Revolution in Tibet was shocking, extreme, and unbearable. She narrated her tragic story with tears in her eyes and a pale facial expression. She had experienced a real hell on earth and never saw any ray of hope in her future life at that time. The revolution was generally considered...

Wedding Note

Image
"It would be appreciated and admired if weddings are celebrated by feeding the hungry and homeless people"                                                                                                                         -His Holiness The Dalai Lama. The wedding ceremony is often followed by a luxury wedding reception or a good wedding feast in Tibetan tradition to make it the best moment. But our wedding celebration is something very special by voluntarily complying with some aspects of His Holiness The Dalai Lama’s vision.  We have decided to spend our wedding budget on the distribution of food to the less fortunate people, street children or homeless people, who are s...

“Three pillars of Tibetan Democracy, check and balance and Suo Moto”

Image
His Holiness The Dalai Lama announced that he would complete retirement from his role as Tibet’s political leader on 10th March 2011, on the 52nd anniversary of his exile from Tibet. He said the decision came from a long-held belief that the Tibetans needed a freely elected leader. Since then, we have our Sikyong of the Tibetan Government in exile, officially known as Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) and previously served by Kalon Tripa since 2001. With his long-held belief and acknowledgment, we are blessed to elect our Sikyong and make him its highest political leader of Tibet. His Holiness The 14th Dalai Lama, carrying full responsibility of Tibet and the Tibetan struggle, announced his decision to retire as political head of the Tibetan Government in exile and to hand over his “formal authority” to a “freely-elected” leader on 10th March 2011. The spiritual and temporal head of Tibet, His Holiness the Dalai Lama is probably the only leader in the world who has voluntarily giv...

“U-Tsang, Kham and Amdo” :: TIBET

Image
I was born in Tibet and brought up in India.  Fortunately or unfortunately! I was inbred as a Tibetan-blood, but my country “Tibet” was already occupied by China when I was born. However, it is clear to me that Tibet is my country and I have to struggle for my country, no matter how long the passage will take. Our life is short and more like riding on a roller coaster, we never know the next tight turns and steep slopes, but we should not be lost, our hopes and faith to struggle on our common interest and let it hand over to our next generation with certain brighter achievements even if we could not able to accomplish our ultimate interests. U-Tsang, Kham, and Amdo are the three main traditional regions of Tibet and we all are proud to be a Tibetan, no matter where our birth-place is from, but Tibet is our country. These three traditional regions are based on geographical composition and the ancient traditional way of life for a certain area of people for thousands ...

A Nightmare

Image
The dark night I shatter my excruciating pain The painful nightmare Whistling of wild wind And the sound of the soothing spirit Frequently Deafening Ancient archaic Occupied   The dark night Untold story of snow Pouring here and freezing there An awful arrhythmia With the whistling of majestic trees Deeply sucked the tiny ears Chilling and Frighten Petrified   The dark night I was sitting on the rooftop of my rented room Of Course! Not my permanent address Trying to count the visible stars Thinking about the space velocity and frictionless The phenomenon of holding time and time machine But my ratiocination is still miles apart.                                                                                   ...

"If I die in exile, let my ashes be returned to Lhamo Lha-Tso in Tibet, the land where my journey began"

Image
-Som I was born in Tibet, and it is my deepest wish to die in the same land where I first opened my eyes. If fate decrees that I die in exile, I hope that someone will help to immerse my ashes in Lhamo Lha-Tso, the sacred lake in Tibet near my birthplace. The lake is renowned as one of the most sacred lakes in Tibet, where signs and visions were believed to have guided the recognition of the reincarnation of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. Otherwise, I would regret having my ashes—along with the tattoo ink of “Dalai Lama” on my rig...

“I too had a Love Story”

Image
Part-1  :::    Love story of the Hills.                                                                                                                                     -Som Hills and hillocks, mountains and monkeys were the place where I have sown the seeds of my beautiful love story. It was the beginning of winter; nevertheless, leaves were still falling and people called it, the end of autumn. One cannot imagine the autumn season of the hills; especially dating into the woods with melody chirping birds and counting the falling of leaves casually. We were too privileged to be part of its devotees to share our love story along with the f...
